What can a Neuro-optometrist do to help you get through your post-concussion symptoms?

Neuroprism Glasses

We look at how you process peripheral information coming to your brain.  We do this by plotting your visual field using a moving target.  This peripheral information provides visual stability, contributing to good balance.

If this peripheral information is in any way disturbed during a concussion, this it is sending your brain

" incorrect" information which contributes to symptoms of dizziness, headache, light sensitivity, tired and sore eyes, to mention a few.

Neuroprism glasses alter the peripheral information coming into your eyes and brain so it is more "correct", resulting in overall reduction of the symptoms listed above.  You do not have to think so hard during a task that should be automatic, like walking, so you are not as exhausted at the end of the day with neuroprism glasses.

Syntonic Optometric Phototherapy

Light of specific colours, or frequencies, is used to calm the vision system and help heal the eye-brain system, as there are extensive neural connections between the eyes and brain. An incandescent light source and broad band filters are applied according to clinic observations accumulated over nearly a century.

Vision Therapy

This is a series of eye-brain activities that start out simple and become progressively more difficult as your skills improve.

With the three treatment modes of neuroprism glasses, syntonic optometric phototherapy and vision therapy,  the eye-brain system improves faster than simply waiting for time to heal.
